The Knee's Complaint

Bent to tie my shoe, a common feat,

and found my left knee held a new, dull beat.

A grinding protest, a hinge gone wrong,

where before there was nothing, no song

of pain, just movement, swift and free.

Now, a stiff reminder, a 'Look at me!'

The bony knob, the skin pulled tight,

a small rebellion in the fading light.

It wasn't a fall, no twist to recall,

just this new, soft tremor, ready to stall.

My own body, writing fresh rules.

A silent lecture from its private schools.
