Stuck between the concrete and the world

Stuck between the concrete and the world,

this yellow bar, unyielding, curled

its cold steel back against my hip.

A metallic click, a useless skip.

I pushed it, hard. It groaned, it caught.

My patience, thin, was dearly bought

at this hour, after this day.

Just let me go, just get away.

But no. It holds. A tiny wall,

against my will, against it all.

The stupid, stubborn, painted post.

Sometimes, the small things hurt the most.
