The Day I Lost Time

Red digits blinked, ignored,

sound swallowed by heavy sleep.

The platform emptied under gray skies,

train’s distant whistle a lost heartbeat.

Feet pounded silent pavement,

tongue dry with swallowed curses,

a ticket in a pocket burning cold.

Time slipped, a thief in broad daylight,

and all I caught was the hollow sound

of doors closing,

leaving me alone

with the quiet cost of missed moments.
