Blinking Streetlamp

The subway’s hum

swallows the empty car,

my reflection wavers—

a ghost flickering behind glass.

Outside, a streetlamp blinks,

slow and unsure,

mimicking my heartbeat,

trying to find a rhythm.

Here—just here—

holding space

like a fragile thing,

breathing into cold air.

If this is all I have,

then what can I do?

Maybe flicker back,

steady and stubborn.
