Yogurt Decision

The list in my hand,

crinkled from the pocket.

Yogurt, it said, bold,

a small command.

My mind, a jammed locket,

trying to unfold.

Strawberry, or plain?

The small, insistent question.

My brain, a soft hum,

a tangled, delicate chain

of slow digestion,

making me numb.

The lights of the aisle,

too bright. The choices,

too many. A small weight,

a tiny trial. My inner voices

debating, sealing my fate

with a plastic pail.

It's just yogurt,

a simple, cold thing.

But the gears turn,

a silent sort

of reasoning, trying to bring

an answer to learn.
