Oil & Grey

The curb was slick,

a sudden dip,

and water filled my shoe, cold muck.

Just like the sky, a flat, hard grey,

it soaked right through my day.

Three days of this,

no gentle wash, no clean.

Just churned-up dirt, a gutter sheen

of oil, a sick rainbow,

reflecting nothing bright.

Just this slow, damp

drag, into a longer night.

Everything feels bruised.
