The Twin I Never Knew

Two pairs of shoes fall in step

like a shadow splitting on cracked pavement.

Jackets match, laughter mingled—

I watch from the edge of a world I never touched.

I imagined you once, a mirror held too close,

a face half-remembered, half-made up.

Where do you end? Where do I begin?

A question split between what’s real and wished.

The day folds into twin shadows,

wondering what might have been

if we had shared the same breath,

the same scuffed sneakers on the same cracked street.
