No Return

Rain slick streets, cracked sidewalk gleam,

a lone figure fades inside a dream.

Missed trains clatter, shadows crawl,

every streetlight dulls and falls.

The city holds no hand to take,

a cruel gray wrapped in its wake.

Photos glow with faces past,

reflections in a glass that won’t last.

No return, no backtrack here—

a place that’s closed and disappears.
