Disconnected Voices

The phone cuts out, mid-sentence, a pause,

a moment suspended, my breath takes a cause.

Words once clear vanish like mist in the night,

as silence fills spaces where answers took flight.

Holding the screen, my reflection just stares,

doubts flutter back like so many loose prayers.

I wish for the voice, but the air feels so thin,

while the muted glow flickers, and I lose what’s within.
