Vertical Debt

I thought the books would lead to better things,

but they just made for a heavier move.

Six hundred pages of Property Law

pushed my discs right out of the groove.

Now I’m slumped against the kitchen seat,

waiting for where the gravity ends.

The plastic mesh leaves a red lace-mark

on the skin where the middle of me bends.

#academic pressure #physical exhaustion
