Maintenance Fees

The landlord says the building has a look

and my plastic tube doesn't fit the plan.

I have to take down the wire hanger

and the suet I bought for the pigeon clan.

It’s been empty for three days anyway.

The birds were pecking at the empty tray,

leaving nothing but a handful of gray husks

locked in the frozen slush of the sill.
