Unbidden Twitch

In a room lit harsh with sterile glow,

my eye blinks, twitches, betrays.

A small rebellion I cannot forego,

a flutter beneath tired gaze.

A colleague’s glance—concern unvoiced—

pulls me back from the edge of strain.

The muscle spasms, unasked, unchoiced,

a staccato of invisible pain.

Coffee steams, a futile shield,

against the pulse beneath my skin.

This body’s secrets never yield,

a quiet war I can’t win.

The twitch persists, a whispered curse,

carving space where control is worse.
