Lonely Cart

Leaned hard against the cracked curb,

wheels frozen in silent protest.

The sun lays down a long shadow,

like a tired finger pointing

at abandoned errands,

forgotten paths.

Rust peels where paint once clung,

a stray in the asphalt sea,

waiting for hands that won’t come,

or the weight of groceries

that never arrive.

Alone, it waits

for something to push it home.
