Re-run

The radiator gave a metallic crack,

timed to the scream of a Honda’s alarm.

The air in the room went thin and black.

I felt the 2012 heat on my arm.

It’s the smell of the toast catching fire,

at exactly four in the afternoon.

The spider plant’s shadow, a jagged wire,

stretches across the pitted linoleum.
