Entry-Level

The guy in the suit had skin like a peach.

I felt like a lesson he wanted to teach.

He asked what 'decade' I finished my school,

then laughed like I was some kind of a fool.

I’m the only one here who still has a boss

who tells me my tie is a total loss.

My drink left a ring on the napkin, a red

and wet little circle, like an eye in a head

that’s been hit. I just stood by the wall

feeling remarkably, horribly small.

I’m the only one here who has to ask

if the wine is free or a difficult task.
