Plastic Kiss

The argument hung in the air,

so I found the cupboard.

Felt the foil get slick between my fingers,

a cheap promise.

That candy, the last square,

melts too fast, a chemical lick.

Sweetness that sticks.

The crinkled wrapper, balled up tight,

a greasy, folded blight.

Just this. Tonight.

A stale residue I can't scrub away.

#consumerism #emotional residue
