The Weight of the Frame

I leaned back, just too far,

felt a sudden, deep complaint.

A small ache, like a scar

that suddenly feels faint

but is still there, you know.

The bones all stacked so straight,

a structure meant to grow

and hold, to bear the weight.

Each vertebra a stone,

a pillar, strong and slight.

It feels like being known

by gravity, by night.
