The Quiet When I Let Go

I held my breath—your voice a crack

inside the phone’s cold, flickering black.

Your words stumbled like broken glass,

a dance I tried but could not pass.

I stopped patching up the jagged seams,

let silence thread through fractured dreams.

The call froze—timer stuck, heart too,

till all I heard was empty blue.

No fix to find, no bridge to build,

a quiet room where time stood still.

I hung up slow, my fingers light,

a small surrender in the night.
