The Last Flicker

A sudden pop, then dark.

Fingers close around warm glass,

blackened filament tangled like old wire,

like something meant to burn gone too soon.

I held the bulb tight,

moments stacked like the coil,

a fragile loop of sparks undone.

That click—final, tiny, sad—

shut the room in thicker shadow,

a pause before the night settled in.
