Cord Tangle

Orange snake in dim-lit room,

sprawling limbs that spell my doom.

Kinks and knots around my shoes,

a slow trap in scattered hues.

I stumble, curse the careless coil,

threads twisted in lazy toil.

Caught like thoughts in cluttered heads,

tangled webs beneath my treads.

Extension cord, careless thread,

you trip me up, fill me with dread.

A careless snare on wooden floor—

I’m tangled in the mess once more.
