Fractured Smoothness

Fingertips trace the pumice,

a pale stone cracked by years of friction.

Roughness smoothed uneven,

like the skin beneath it—

worn down, softened, still bearing

tiny fractures no one sees.

The water drips slow, the stone worn thin,

a quiet erosion happening under my skin.

Sometimes it hurts to touch,

but harder not to feel the change.
