I press the button hear the click

I press the button, hear the click,

a plastic thing against my thumb.

The waiting starts, it’s always quick

to make the whole world feel quite numb.

Behind the glass, a darkened room,

no sign of life, just silent gloom.

I press again, a frantic plea,

for someone, anyone, to see.

But only air comes through the gap.

This quiet, deep, unending trap.
