Uninvited Fragments

Voices collide across chipped mugs,
a conversation sharp and fractured
like broken glass on linoleum.
They speak of silence—
betrayal tangled in syllables,
words not meant for my ears,
caught in the clatter of plates and steam.
Fragments crash—secret and cold,
a shard slipping beneath ribs,
impossible to swallow whole.
A chipped cup catches dim light,
stains that won’t wash away,
a quiet witness to words
that weren’t mine to hold,
but linger still.
