Between the Edges

Morning light fractures in the cracked mirror,

sharp where the tooth used to be,

a jagged line cutting the pale reflection.

Toothpaste foam clings to chipped porcelain,

a silent witness to absence.

I grimace, a cracked smile,

the space speaking louder than any words,

a crack in the surface, uneven, raw.

Each glance catches that jagged pause—

a missing piece, sharp as winter’s breath.

This gap, a place where light slips through,

unfinished, open,

waiting for something that never quite fills.
