The Soft Part

I bit my cheek, just thinking hard,

a casual, dumb thing.

A sudden sting, a small red shard

of taste the pain did bring.

And in that moment, sharp and brief,

I felt the inside wall.

So tender, hidden from belief,

awaiting some hard fall.

A moist pink fold, a secret space,

that knows the teeth too well.

A private, soft, internal place

that’s hard for words to tell.
