The Casual Dismissal

He stopped. Looked. A casual pause

before the simple act.

Ignoring common laws,

a visceral, dark tract.

It landed, a slick, wet dark

on the grey concrete.

Leaving its visible mark,

a tiny, base defeat.

Then walked away, as if

nothing had occurred.

Just a brief, silent riff,

a wordless, cruel word.

And I was left to see

that dark spot on the ground.

A small obscenity,

where nothing else was found.
