Sweet Vanish

The morning coffee, black and deep,
a spoon of sugar, stark and white.
I watched it sink, before it creeped
into the swirling, fading light.
No sudden break, no jarring shock,
just slow surrender, soft and low.
Each tiny crystal, tick by clock,
letting go, letting go.
And then, nothing. A dark pool where
a sweetness lingered, just a trace.
No longer seen, dissolved in air,
leaving only empty space.
And I, who stirred it, couldn't tell
if it was truly gone or simply hid.
The taste remains, a quiet spell,
as if it never truly did.
