Static

The algorithm dug up his name

and put his face on my phone.

He looks almost exactly the same

in a life I’ve never known.

I thought about clicking the link

just to see if he’s still in the bar.

But I sat in the dark with a drink

and watched the light of a car.

The screen is cracked in a jagged line

that splits his forehead in two.

He was a brother of mine

until I ran out of things to do.
