Empty

I poured the coffee down the drain

this morning without drinking it.

Just let it go. The steam rose

from the dark and I stood there

watching it disappear.

The kitchen was too quiet.

I wasn't hungry. I haven't been

for two weeks. The routine's broken.

I used to sit here with something

warm in my hands. Now I just

stand. The cup goes empty

into empty. I could make something.

I don't. I watch the drain take it.

That's breakfast now.
