Wrist Bruise Memory

Cold metal caught me off guard,

a scrape along skin and bone

where wrist bends sharp,

a slow-burning bruise blooming.

The ache spreads under skin,

a dull pulse that won’t quit,

like a quiet reminder

pressed beneath the surface.

Fingers flex and falter,

tracing that hard edge

where metal kissed flesh

and left a silent claim.
