Signal Strength

The screen is black again.

I can see my own nose in the reflection,

and a thumbprint smudge like a gray cloud

blocking the center of the glass.


I sent the link an hour ago.

Five names at the top say 'seen'

but the little bubbles haven't popped up.

My hand is cramped from the grip.


I’m carrying this five-ounce brick

waiting for a vibration to tell me I’m funny.

I’m pathetic.
