The Unsaid

Another small argument today,

a colleague's shrug, my quiet sigh.

It brings that older fight to play,

the one where I just let it lie.

I saw her head, that knowing tilt,

the final point, beyond dispute.

My own convictions, slowly spilt,

a bitter, unforgiving fruit.

I could have pushed, I could have fought,

for what I knew, for what was true.

But silence was the lesson taught,

and something in me just withdrew.

It wasn't right, but it was done.

And sometimes, losing is a space

where nothing's gained, no victory won,

just quiet in that empty place.
