Their Big Day

The email came, with all the bright photos,

of white lace and forced smiles.

My old colleague, glowing, I suppose,

walking down those floral aisles.

A blurry shot of cutting cake,

a rented tuxedo, stiff and black.

I feel a distant, familiar ache,

a moment that I can't get back.

Plastic confetti, caught on the grass,

a perfect day, or so it seemed.

Another milestone, swiftly to pass.

A life, a future, carefully dreamed.
