Small Sun in the Hall

Woke to a crack, a floorboard sound,

and then that glow, just down the hall.

A tiny sun, in plastic bound,

catching shadows on the wall.

Not bright enough to really see,

but enough to keep the dark at bay.

A child's small, electric plea,

for monsters to just go away.

It casts a comfort, thin and frail,

against the vastness of the night.

A little hope, it won't derail,

the coming of the morning light.
