The radiator hissed a steady dry heat

The radiator hissed a steady, dry heat.

I watched a plastic cap roll near my feet.

The pharmacy aisle is a bright, white glare

where I pretend to compare what isn't there.

A penny’s worth of copper sits on my tongue.

The bus was late. The morning is young.

Under the heater, a single drop of sweat

leaks from the cap. I haven't told him yet.
