Memories in the Dark

Last night the world went silent, a hush,

a storm rattled rooftops in a frantic rush.

We lit a candle, the flame flickering wide,

sharing stories, secrets, heartaches inside.

I remember storms from a child’s view,

when thunder held magic in sheets of blue,

now here in this dark, each shadow plays,

scribbling echoes of forgotten days.

And the rain drums on, a familiar score,

while whispers of childhood knock on the door.
