Aisle Four

The pharmacy speakers are tinny

but I’d know that synth anywhere.

It’s the same three notes from the drive

away from the oncology wing

when we didn't talk the whole way home.

I’m looking at a puddle of blue Gatorade

on the linoleum, reflecting the tubes

of the overhead lights.

I think I’m going to be sick

right next to the greeting cards.
