Hard Reset

The screen went black, the movie died,

I went to find a place to hide.

The router sits there, dull and red,

the signal in the house is dead.

I dig through drawers of junk and twine,

to find a tool that’s truly mine.

A silver wire, bent and thin,

to poke the tiny reset in.

It stabs my thumb, a little sting,

a sharp and metal-pointed thing.

I wait for lights to blink and grow,

and let the static start to flow.
