Heavy Load

She reached for her wallet, slow, then sighed.

That curve beneath her winter coat,

a world contained, cannot be hid.

A heavy, breathing, silent note.

In the coffee line, the steam rose high.

Her careful step, her guarded glance.

Another life, beneath her sky,

held in that fragile, forward stance.

Wanted or not, it makes no claim.

Just a fact, a deep, round truth.

An extra heartbeat, whispering a name,

a sudden, undeniable proof.

The world just shifts around that weight.

Suddenly, everything is new.

She walked out, slow, toward her fate.

And left me standing, watching through.
