It just slipped A dumb thing

It just slipped. A dumb thing.

Out of my hand, a quick arc,

then that sickening crunch against the patio concrete.

Not a clean break, not a bone.

More like a spiderweb, a starburst

of fine, sharp lines, spreading

instantly across the screen.

A tiny shard, catching the sun,

like a desperate, tiny eye.

It's still on, somehow, buzzing,

but the face, the smooth, blank face

is gone.

Just a thousand tiny pieces,

all still clinging to the frame,

showing me a fractured world.
