The Medicine Cabinet

The sun is an insult today.

It’s too bright for a Tuesday

when the air feels this thin.

I was looking for the aspirin

and knocked the bottle over.

Those big pink vitamins spilled across the tile,

rolling under the radiator like marbles.

I should have thrown them out in April.

I can still feel the cold, blue gel

they smeared across my stomach,

the way the nurse looked at the monitor

and then looked at the wall.

The silence in that room was the loudest thing

I have ever had to hear.

dropping things under the radiator is the worst part.

Lina Caldwell · Mar 4, 2026

the nurse looking at the wall instead of the monitor is such a scary detail honestly.

the cold blue gel part is a little gross to think about.

This makes me think about cleaning out my own cabinet.

Aria · Mar 7, 2026

yeah it’s crazy how long some of that stuff just sits there.

Totally, it's like a weird time capsule in there.
