Stopped at 3:15

The clock on the wall has been stopped

since I started here—doesn't matter when.

I pass it every day without thought,

until today I looked at it again.

Someone asked what time it was.

I glanced at that frozen face: 3:15.

Then checked my phone. The same. Because

that broken clock had caught what I'd seen.

It wasn't working. It had given up.

But it was right by accident today.

It will be right again when I'm asleep—

3:15 AM, when I'm far away.

For now, that stopped clock tells the truth

better than anything that moves.

It knows when to shut up,

and that's the only thing that proves.
