Room Temp

It missed the glass and hit the faux-stone.

I left it right there to dissolve all alone.

A clear, square diamond with a bubble of air

trapped in the middle of a frozen-in stare.

The edges are rounding, the sharp corners gone.

It’s losing the battle it’s currently on.

A small, shallow puddle is starting to creep

toward the edge of the counter, silent and deep.

I could pick it up, could throw it away,

but I’d rather just watch how it fails the day.

By the time that the news is finished and done,

there will be nothing but a shine in the sun.
