Right Words, Wrong Time

Her words cut deeper than I’d ever admit,

patterns on repeat, I just want to quit.

"Why can’t you see?" she said, with a sigh,

as the weight of the truth made me want to cry.


A crumpled tissue lies, a witness to blame,

my anger aflame, though I know she’s not to blame.

I wanted to shout, but I bit back the sting,

realization, a burden that feels like a ring.
