Restitution

The passenger seat has been holding the weight

of this plastic for nearly a month.

I see your sedan sitting back by the gate,

and I feel every mile at once.

The plastic is cloudy and scarred by the knives,

with an orange-red ring on the floor.

I'm tired of the way that a memory survives

when I leave it outside of your door.
