The Unseen Twitch

A flicker in my fingers,

a small betrayal I can’t stop,

shaking loose beneath calm skin.

It happens when words stick,

when the room tightens

and my breath hits a wall.

No one sees the tremble,

just me, noticing the slip—

a fault line beneath stillness.

The hand clenches,

trembles again,

a silent crack in the armor

I wear like a second skin.

I try to will it away,

but the twitch has a mind,

breaking through when I’m too tired

or too afraid to show it.

It’s a small confession

my body makes alone,

a wordless noise

against the quiet I keep.
