Density

It’s not just glass and a lithium core.

It’s a brick of lead in my pocket,

dragging my jeans toward the floor.

I set it on the bar,

next to a ring of condensation

that’s slowly turning into a map.

I’m checking it for the fourteenth time,

but the screen is just a mirror

showing me a man

waiting for a ghost to speak.

The battery is at four percent.

The weight of the silence

is heavier than the hardware.
