Saturation

The hallway heat has gone to bed.

The sky is dropping chunks of lead.

I peel the wool away from skin

and let the kitchen floor begin

to take the gray and heavy spill.

The hem is drinking up its fill.

A widening ring of winter grit.

I stand in the center of it.
