The Shelter

by Emily Dickinson · (no date)

THE body grows outside,—

      The more convenient way,—

That if the spirit like to hide,

Its temple stands alway

Ajar, secure, inviting;

It never did betray

The soul that asked its shelter

In timid honesty.
