Static and Copper

The cabinets finally unstick their teeth,

a sudden draft cutting through the hall.

The heat that sat like a heavy sheath

slides away as the pressure starts to fall.

Next door, the kiddy pool flips its blue skin,

skidding across the patio in a panic.

I wait for the first hard drop to begin

against the sky, gray and volcanic.

In the grass, a yellow extension cord

snakes toward a drill that’s gone cold.

Everything I meant to fix is ignored

while the clouds turn heavy and bold.

The part about the kiddy pool flipping is okay but I couldnt really get into this.

Not really my thing but the cabinet line is decent.

Fair enough, glad you liked that part at least.

Yeah, it just felt like the strongest bit.

I definitely feel that line about ignoring stuff you meant to fix.
